LAUREN KELLY

COACHING + CONSULTING SERVICES

Hello! My name is Lauren and I am a life coach based in Victoria, BC on the West Coast of Canada. I work with individuals who are in transitional phases of their life, and who are exploring questions around identity, sexuality, substance use, relationships, careers, and who are simply looking to be witnessed and seen.

With coaching, we look at the ways your thoughts and beliefs might influence your behaviours to assist you in aligning with your true nature and your goals, and ultimately reconnecting with your soul. In addition to thought-based work, my favourite methods also include dream analysis and developing your body compass to better connect you with your own inner knowing.

Many of the topics we approach in coaching include:

  • feelings of being stuck
  • struggling with defining and asserting boundaries
  • taking on too much (being a ‘yes’ person and people-pleasing)
  • feeling distracted or burnt out
  • using substances to cope and/or as an outlet
  • being in relationships that don’t serve us or that we’re disconnected from
  • struggling with ongoing health concerns
  • being unable to disengage from cycles of self-improvement
  • and much more!

My goal is that over time you will become better attuned to your own wisdom and be fully present with the life you’ve designed for yourself.

THOUGHT-BASED APPROACH

Coaching provides the opportunity to simply be and to explore your own thoughts and beliefs, and how they inform your decisions and life choices. We all have personal narratives that can be limiting at times, and partnering with a coach can be a space where we get to examine some of these thought patterns in creative and curious ways.

Limiting beliefs often present as ‘shoulds,’ and in trying to fit or conform to expectations that don’t align with your true nature. So much can be learned by simply observing your ‘shoulds’ and discovering what’s underneath. A thought-based approach to coaching is conversational in nature, incorporating specific tools and questioning designed to uncover limiting beliefs.

DREAM INSIGHT

Dreams are a powerful way to reconnect with our inner knowing and to either begin, or return to, a conversation with our souls and our self. All of the information and knowledge we seek already exists within us, but we may need support and assistance in remembering how to receive and to listen.

Through a gentle and non-invasive process, I can help you to discover the messages in your dreams as well as in your waking life. This process and these teachings will be specific to you, since they come from you, but I provide a framework through which to explore them.

You can read more about dream insight and the process here.

BODY COMPASS

In addition to developing and defining your own inner knowing and wisdom through thought-work and dream analysis, I also focus on integrating body-based learning by addressing the ways in which our bodies store and direct energy. Like our dreams, our bodies have their own wisdom and are in constant dialogue with us. By tuning in, we can explore the messages that are waiting to be revealed.

In listening to and following your body’s wisdom, together we can begin to identify the areas in which deeper healing may need to take place and determine appropriate next steps in the healing journey.

“Lauren helped me to recognize what my self-sabotaging behaviours are, where they came from and how to reassert myself as the one in the driver’s seat. We discovered what small practical changes I can make in my behaviour to help change the course of my thinking and life…

Lauren is warm, thoughtful, and compassionate in her coaching style. She is a great listener and has helped me tie seemingly unrelated issues in myself together. After a session with Lauren, I feel more spirited, grounded, and sure of myself and the choices I make.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I KNOW IF COACHING IS RIGHT FOR ME?

Here are some questions for you to consider if you’re new to coaching:

  • You’re ready to transition into a new phase of your life, or start a new project.
  • You’re feeling stuck or unsure about where you’re at and where you want to go next.
  • You’ve tried making some changes but need support in staying accountable or developing a path forward.
  • You’re looking to connect and build community with others in areas of growth and personal development.
  • You’re experiencing physical and/or mental and emotional symptoms of distress, unhappiness, fatigue, etc. and want to identify underlying causes.
  • You need support in regulating your nervous system.
  • You’re ready to dive deeper into your own subconscious and strengthen your relationship with Self.
  • You’ve had some weird-ass dreams and want to know what tf they’re all about.
  • You can no longer remember your dreams or don’t seem to dream at all and want some help in re-activating that part of yourself.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND THERAPY?

Coaching is not therapy. There are many qualified, licensed, and skilled professionals who specialize in areas related to somatic healing, trauma, addiction, and other underlying and pressing conditions that may require the attention of a therapist. My aim in our sessions is to be very careful not to cause harm and to ensure we’re not actively working on areas of trauma. That said, there are times when sessions may bring up difficult emotions and that’s ok. It’s important for us to work together to notice and recognize areas where clients might need the support of a therapist, and if/when necessary I am happy to provide a list of resources to clients who want to pursue counselling. Often, therapy and coaching can occur at the same time, or we can continue our coaching sessions at a later point.

In short, coaching is focused on working with individuals or groups where they’re at and developing a path forward. Coaching still requires a high level of confidentiality, safety, and deep healing work, but within the limits of each person’s zone of tolerance.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A COACHING SESSION?

Sessions are scheduled in 60 minute increments, and conducted via Zoom (online) or on rare occasions in-person (by request). The first session typically involves getting to know each other and identifying some goals and objectives for our time together. From there, it’s up to you how often you would like to meet. Many clients prefer 2-weeks between sessions, which allows time for reflection and integration from the previous session. It’s not uncommon to work with a coach on an ongoing basis, or more actively in transitional phases when extra support is needed.

HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?

You do not need to be located on Vancouver Island to book in – all sessions are virtual and can therefore we booked from anywhere!

“Lauren’s calming and grounding presence makes her a pleasure to work with as a coach. She holds a safe container that lets me be vulnerable, and she asks powerful questions that help me to peel back the layers and tap into my authentic self.

Her experience and wisdom, both as a human and a coach, shines through in each of our sessions. Thank you Lauren for helping me to examine limiting beliefs that are getting in the way and start to take small steps towards my true nature.
